Whereas, a train derailment took place at East Palestine in Ohio on February 3, 2023 and,
Whereas, highly toxic material released by the ignition of the material by Norfolk Southern Railway and,
Whereas, community residents and workers in that community were not properly protected from the toxic exposure and,
Whereas, this incident has contaminated thousands of people in the town and the surrounding area as well as the streams and waterways and,
Whereas, many of these residents and workers are suffering health affect that are leading to their inability to work and,
Whereas, these residents and workers are threatened with the loss of their healthcare as their family members or themselves are unable to work and,
Whereas, the loss of medical care will lead to their deaths and continued catastrophes for them and their families,
Therefore be it resolved, this Union, organization or individual calls on the EPA and President Biden to IMMEDIATELY DECLARE EAST PALESTINE A MASS INCIDENT CASUALTY INCIDENT SITE UNDER THE STAFFORD ACT TO MAKE RESIDENTS AND WORKERS ELIGIBLE FOR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTHCARE FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and we urge other organizations and people of the United States to demand that this action take place.
